Objectives

Our project was mainly focused on fields of foreign language and professional education. We intended to increase our students´ motivation to study languages and their preparation for lifelong learning through the complex attitude of our teachers with expert knowledge of their fields, the strong knowledge of English language and an awareness of the principles of European education space. We wanted to lower the number of students threatened by the danger of failure of their studies by the attractiveness of the teaching and implementation of innovative methods. We aimed to create the conditions for innovative educational methods, especially CLIL and ICT in lessons of all subjects, especially the professional ones – to give them the possibility to learn language and methodology to increase their language and professional competences, strengthen the internationalisation of our organisation and deepen the cooperation and experience exchange with other European organisations; - To increase the quality of teaching English and history of architecture subjects; - To enlarge the team of teachers capable to use CLIL methods or its units (for example CLIL showers); - To get inspiration and comparison of our systems of teaching by job shadowing; - To enlarge the portfolio of international contacts.

Background

Our project Professional English for a Building Sector – Open Door to Europe, which was in progress from September 1st, 2021 to January 31st. 2023 was motivated by the needs of our organisation emerging from Long-term Intention of Education and Development of Education System Vysočina Region. The priority is to provide high-quality preparation of our graduates and their realisation within the building sector of the labour market not only in the Czech Republic but also in the states of European Union. This is the reason why we need to develop the competences of English language teachers aimed at professional vocabulary and subsequently non-language teachers, also teachers teaching professional subjects in building industry and especially masters of workshops. Our graduates need to be well-prepared for their following studies at universities and for work in the EU. Good knowledge of English enables them to succeed and get an international awareness. The internationalisation of our teaching is an integral part of our educational plan. Another reason was the effort to make the education more attractive and to enlarge the team of teachers capable of implementation CLIL methods into their lessons and being prepared to take part in international projects. This project develops the previous projects focused on CLIL in years 2015, 2017, 2018 and completes the fields of professional education.
