The aim of the project was expansion of existing contacts using job shadowing at Austrian secondary school, support of teachers´ professional development to innovate and elevate the quality of teaching, improvement of technical subject teachers´ knowledge of foreign languages and development of skills and qualifications using modern teaching methods. Job shadowing was focused on familiarization with the school management system, class organization, teaching plans and methods. We were looking for an inspiration how to use modern technology in our classes. We wanted to compare our results and look for new possibilities in a field of construction and control of small robots. Foreign language teachers used the courses to improve their skills and to find new partners in various European countries. The teachers focused on usage of modern technology in classes and methods that would increase students´ motivation and efforts. The technical subjects teaching participants of the courses, joined our teaching staff that use the CLIL method actively and improve their language skills using foreign technical texts. Moreover, all participants had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the cultural environment of specific countries.
The development of international contacts with schools from various European countries is very important for our school. Moreover, we dedicate a lot of time to teachersˈ methodological and professional education. We wanted to use the project to develop cooperation with foreign schools, to increase the effectiveness of our work using gained knowledge and experience. The aim of job shadowing was to get to know the organization and content of teaching in other countries and to learn about various teaching methods and procedures. We wanted to cooperate not only in the field of teaching foreign languages, but also in natural sciences and social studies, and to develop interdisciplinary relations between the two fields. We wanted to enable the teachers of vocational subjects to improve their language skills so they can actively participate in projects and use foreign language literature in their classes. We wanted foreign language teachers to participate in methodological courses abroad, focusing on innovative methods, that would inspire them to enrich their classes and motivate their colleagues. We wanted the project participant to have an opportunity to meet with foreign colleagues and to get to know the diverse cultural environment.
