A large group of participants were teachers of English and German language. The aim of this group of teachers was to increase their qualification, to diversify foreign language teaching and to improve the knowledge of pupils by new teaching methods. Another aim was to introduce the CLIL method into the teaching of a range of subjects for different age groups, together with a more intensive use of IT technology in teaching across subjects and year groups. The aim of the shadowing activity was to gain new experience of teaching similar subjects abroad, to learn more about the school system, assessment methods, the use of teaching aids, school equipment, or to compare the language level of our pupils with those abroad. We wanted to increase interest in studying at our school. The high quality dissemination of the project results helped the public perception of the school as a progressive and European institution.
Our school participated in a similar project in the past and in 2019 we received a grant for teacher internships. The project was very meaningful for us and we wanted to continue our international activities. However, we wanted to focus more on supporting our elementary school teachers, where relatively fewer number have gone in the past. The positive experiences from the past and visits to other international schools and the mutual sharing of experiences and good practices was again the impetus to continue in shadowing teaching at foreign school. Thanks to the Erasmus+ funding, these placements can be carried out on a larger scale than if the language course or the trip to the language school in Ireland were to be largely self-funded or with minimal support from the school.
