The aim of the project implementation by our school was to establish long-term international cooperation and thus provide both language and professional experience and the development of social competences for our pupils. The pupils who participated in the internship were able to gain the necessary experience, new knowledge, skills, but also to gain the necessary confidence for future professional employment. This project was one of the means to achieve the long-term goals of the school. The project involved 10 participants, 3 of whom were from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. These pupils have very limited opportunities to travel abroad and experience foreign cultures, so their social competences were greatly enhanced through the project. The project also involved an accompanying teacher who played a key role in conveying information from the placement abroad to the school management, other teachers and the general public.
The school is an important educational institution providing vocational training in the region and nationwide, but we want it to be recognized not only regionally but also internationally. Our aim and need is to build a European system of relationships that will enable us to establish long-lasting international cooperation. Český Brod is located between Prague and Kolín, where there are many multinational companies /e.g. TPCA Kolín/ that will appreciate the knowledge and skills of our students acquired during their work placement abroad. This is not only communication and professional knowledge, but also improvement of social competences. Therefore, the school needs the pupils to have the opportunity to get acquainted with new working practices. We also apply the knowledge gained to teaching.
