The project was focused on the professional practice of students of Applied Chemistry (ACH), Mechanic of Plumbing and Electrical Equipment (MPEE) and Auto Mechanic. The universal aim of the project was to promote students' interest in learning, in the connection between theory and practice, in lifelong learning and in the extension of vocational training to topics marginally represented in the curriculum. Another objective was to improve communication in English. ACH: the aim was to learn about the context of chemistry in the environment (collecting seawater samples, fauna and flora samples, soil samples, examining and evaluating them in the laboratory). MPEE: the aim was to introduce students to the installation of indoor technical equipment, electrical wiring, water/heating/gas installations of eco-friendly and intelligent (smart) buildings. We wanted to introduce the pupils to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, compressed air systems in conjunction with energy recovery systems for water heating, as well as their installation and maintenance. Car mechanic: the aim was to familiarise pupils with the differences between servicing conventional combustion engine cars and electric cars, i.e. electric cars and hybrids
The application for this project was submitted in accordance to and in response to the current European Development Plan of the Secondary School in Otrokovice, which aims to transform our school into a modern European educational centre. The project responds to the needs identified in the following areas: 1. improving management competence: the need is to increase active participation in projects, to involve school managers more in project activities, not only by participation, but also by preparing and managing project activities. 2. increasing staff competence - linguistic and professional: the need is to involve schoolteachers more in project activities, to participate in the management and preparation of their content. 3. development and implementation of new teaching methods and tools: the need is to extend frontal teaching and practice in school workshops to other modern forms of learning. 4. student work experience abroad and its gradual integration into the curriculum: the need is for greater involvement of technical disciplines in mobility programmes. 5. the content of teaching and training: the need is to prepare students for the real world of work and for the current challenges in their fields.
