Our first goal was to increase the accessibility and quality of adult education in the Czech Republic, through providing inclusive leadership training to educators and organisations working at the intersection of environmental and community issues across the country. Our second goal was creating a new project strand called “Community Leadership Education Programme” (CLEP). Taking into account this new strand of work, plus the expected growth from meeting a rise in demand, to ensure our success as a team we needed our staff (old and new) to understand the latest pedagogical methodologies and best practice in the field of participatory and community education. This also involved learning agile organisational methodologies to ensure effective team coordination. Finally, our third goal was to continue to increase our international network and connections. The previous KA104 project was having an incredible impact on our connectivity and increased our learning capacity. We wanted to take this to the next level in further increasing our European connectivity in order to ensure the success of our Community Leadership Education Programme team.
As the 2019 Erasmus+ adult education project was delivering more outcomes than we anticipated, we applied again in 2020. We were at a point to develop an organisational strand that more clearly brands itself and directs energy towards providing adult education at the intersection of environmental and community issues. When we consulted the monitoring survey results for Czech Republic in the most recent UNESCO Global Report on Adult Learning and Education, it showed that ALE programmes only contribute to a limited extent towards “Environmental sustainability in local communities”, “Active citizenship and political and community participation” and “Democratic values and peaceful co-existence”. This led us to apply and make a plan with goals that fit this analysis. Narativ as an organisation remains passionate about using adult education as a tool for empowerment and the creation of resilient, thriving and inclusive cultures. The idea at the heart of our work continues to be that shared spaces for learning are essential, as they enable the understanding and tolerance that lead to resilient and inclusive relationships, communities and organisations.
