The name of the project - EYOUCRACY- is composed of three meanings. Firstly, it refers to the EU, because it is the main theme of the YE. Secondly, it contains the word "you" which refers to the connection of "you" (meaning all of us) and the EU. Thirdly, the whole name refers to a system of government and administrative procedures of the EU. All together it creates a mixture of the topics about the EU, its work and role and what does it mean for all of us as citizens and what can we change and what can we benefit from the EU. Since our organization's objectives are to encourage European youth to seek educational and job opportunities to enhance their personal and professional development, we realized that carrying out this project will help us to work more effectively with youth on this topic and thus reach more easily our goals, fulfill our organization's mission. Behind this general goal, there are many activities we carry out in reality during our everyday functioning. When working with young people we usually face an obstacle which is that the participants of our workshops and projects or our audience reading our articles are not familiar with the functioning of the EU and its programs. For many of them, it is just an incomprehensible entity which makes it hard to establish a more human relationship. It is then difficult to offer them these opportunities and motivate them to participate when they are lacking basic knowledge. By implementing this youth exchange we wanted to address the issue of lack of active involvement of young people (mainly of Generation Z) and the need for increasing the proportion of young people aware of the values, principles, and role of the EU. Both of these matters are fundamental for further successful development of our European society, therefore, the main objectives of the YE were: 1) To reach out to the marginalized youth and to provide them a safe space where they can learn about their civil rights and responsibilities, the advantages and disadvantages of being an EU citizen 2) To raise awareness and provide knowledge about tolerance, respect for human and citizen's rights, citizenship in general and European citizenship through simulation games, study visit, and teamwork in a multicultural environment 3) To provide knowledge through non-formal learning methods for understanding the work and role of EU institutions and the decision making in the EU, what are possibilities of influencing the local politics 4) To encourage participants to reflect on European topics and to involve them in decision making in their community, to help them to understand what is solidarity, and why it is important to promote it on daily basis. These detailed objectives are firmly linked to the objectives of the Erasmus+ program and the key action 1, as the emphasis is put on promoting the values of freedom, tolerance, and respect of human rights. By implementing this project we want to contribute to the aims of the promotion of European values and principles in accordance with the Treaty on the European Union. In addition, we follow the specific objective of Erasmus+ which urges the improvement of the level of key competences and skills of the participants and included organizations with particular regard to their relevance for the labor market and their contribution to a cohesive society with an emphasis on promoting solidarity. We believe that contributing to these specific objectives is possible by carrying out this project with young people.
