Objectives

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, many post-Soviet countries have had external and internal conflicts. The war in Georgia is one such example. This represents a significant social problem. As a result of the war in Georgia, many ethnic Georgians were expelled from South Ossetia and forced to become internally displaced persons (IDP). The goal of this project was to bring together young people from the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, Ukraine, Armenia, and Turkey who have the appropriate background to involve them in the decision-making process and help them understand how to deal with conflict situations in a non-violent way. We were able to demonstrate to IDP youth and refugees new possibilities for their integration in the local community, and various workshops and trainings were held to show IDP youth and refugees new possibilities, including those offered by Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps. One of the objectives of the project was to break down the stereotypes that participants face because of their background and to increase their self-esteem through training. We consider this goal to be achieved and the positive result is that the participants now have a better understanding of themselves and their possibilities. Another objective of the project was to raise awareness of the success of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM). In the course of the project, we have made efforts to inform the young people about this mission and about the actions taken to achieve it. Therefore, we believe that these objectives have been achieved by the project, as evidenced by the evaluation conducted at the end of the project.
