The benefits included the improvement of language and personal competences. For the teaching staff, the aim was to gain personal experience in a real environment with teaching in English, exchange of methodological knowledge, transfer of new forms to teaching at our school, deepening of language competences, especially in the field of professional English or obtaining new materials to be used both in the teaching of professional English and of professional subjects in English.

Background

Practical training is an integral part of our school's studies, both at secondary school and college. The traineeships abroad follow and deepen this practical training. The aim of the project was to provide pupils and students with high-quality traineeships in carefully selected host organisations. The participants were to test their theoretical knowledge, practical skills and ability to use a foreign language, including a professional language. At our school, great emphasis is placed on the teaching of English, including the professional language. Professional subjects taught in English are gradually being introduced into the curriculum across all fields of study. The participation in a traineeship abroad is a very good opportunity to deepen language competence and to naturally acquire and expand especially professional vocabulary. It is also a very good opportunity to strengthen personal qualities such as responsibility, independence or the ability to adapt to a new conditions. It is supposed that the participants will apply the experience and knowledge gained in their future professional and personal lives. We also focused on the teachers and supporting the development of their professional and linguistic competences.
