Project summary

There is a strong call for entrepreneurial education, training and support for young people according to European youth employment policy. And so, there is a lack of training for teachers and professors how to teach entrepreneurial skills to young people and provide adequate training in entrepreneurship for students. We want to start an system change in the area of supporting entrepreneurial education in pre-incubation phase in Europe. According to project plan and its partners, we want to prepare set of tools which can be international, because the topic of youth unemployment is the European topic. We set up project partners to gain this goal. The aim of the project will be to make a research of the specifics of start-ups of students and young people (including foreign and migrant students), the application of not only foreigners in the business environment of regions affected by depopulation. The aim is produced several outputs such us to design and develop an evaluation tool that will measure entrepreneurial potential and improve entrepreneurial skills and abilities, thereby increasing students' entrepreneurial potential (including a possible benchmark with EU universities). This activity will also include defining parameters for start-up entrepreneurs and defining areas for evaluating the business process (for evaluating entrepreneurial potential). Another goal and also project output is to create and manage a network of students interested in entrepreneurship or those who will have identified potential for business activities. Sharing experiences from partner countries will also be included. Next output then will include the creation of a soft-landing portal not only for international students and young migrating people (similar to the buddy system, but adapted for entrepreneurship). Depending on the objectives and subject of the project, it will also include the design of communication tools, ie the best (optimal) way to communicate initiative, creativity and entrepreneurship at university (the creation of communication groups on social networks to be promoted at universities and/or high schools) - a moderated discussion will also be included, as well as a proposal for a sustainable support for development of students and young people business and development of universities students and young people to do business and develop their entrepreneurial skills and abilities. As another output there will be created case studies of student´s entrepreneur projects in individual partner countries - in the Czech Republic, Poland and Spain. The project is lead by Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Its partners are the Technology Innovation Centre Zlín, Uniewersytet Szczecinski and Universidad Catolica Santa Teresa de Jesus de Avila. Nonprofit partner is member of European Parliament Parliment Michaela Šojdrová. Project duration: 3 years. There will be dissemination event Barcamp „Entrepreneurship of young people“ by the end of project (Open conference of young entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, promoting outcomes and experience of the project, build a community of stakeholders in the area of entrepreneurial training for young people, disseminate outcomes of project namely the methodology and case study). All outcomes will be available to any stakeholder. Please contact Tomas Bata University and all partners.

Objectives

The main aim was to produce several outputs such as designing and developing an assessment tool that will measure entrepreneurial potential and improve entrepreneurial skills and abilities, thereby increasing students' entrepreneurial potential (including a possible benchmark with EU universities). The aim of the project was also to conduct research on the specifics of start-ups of students and young people (including foreign and migrant students), and the application of not only foreigners in the business environment of regions affected by depopulation. Another goal and project output was to create and manage a network of students interested in entrepreneurship or those who will have identified potential for business activities. Sharing business experiences from partner countries was also included. The aim was also to create a platform enabling students, as well as foreign young people, to quickly orientate themselves in business requirements, obligations and support, as well as, for example, a connection to the relevant authorities in the region/country.

Background

According to European youth employment policies, there was a strong call for entrepreneurial education, training, and support in entrepreneurship for young people. Entrepreneurial activities and their support at universities were still under-emphasized, and this project served precisely this support, especially in the pre-incubation phase, revealing the potential of students. Teachers and professors lacked training in teaching entrepreneurial skills to young people and providing suitable entrepreneurship training for students. We initiated a systemic change in pre-incubation education support in Europe. In line with the project plan and its partners, we prepared a set of tools that could have an international character since youth unemployment is a concern across Europe. The set of project outputs is thus primarily intended to deepen the support of students' entrepreneurial activities.
