Project summary

WITEA-ID is a transnational project that draws on existing and emerging digital and international mobility competencies and skills needs in higher education, translating them into an approach of short term events with highly relevant inputs and reflecting critical cybersecurity issues. The project intends to create the infrastructure necessary for learning events with transnational and international participants on the side of students as well as teachers. Opening such events to the broader public due to digital transfer of the teaching sessions should enable more inclusivity of the education (overcoming the geographical, health and other obstacles and also age barriers). WITEA-ID aims to: - Ensure that HEI students and teachers are at the forefront run of research, technological developments and innovation in digitalisation; (to enhance digital competences); - Ensure that current and future professionals have the work attitude, knowledge, flexibility and competencies that they can cope with rapid changing EU job market demands; (to enhance competences for international mobility and multilingualism); - Identify the existing and emerging needs of teachers in digital education and enhance the responsiveness of initial and continuing training for teachers to these needs; (to enhance digital competences); - Promote synergies, cooperation and cross-fertilisation among partners (to enhance internationalisation on the participating institutions); - Include new stakeholder groups in short time events (to enhance inclusivity). Main outputs of the project will be: - Guidelines on the recommendations for the International Weeks and similar events identifying the existing ways of organising such events, identifying competencies of students and teachers for international mobility, analysing methodology for teaching and learning in the context of global mobility and respecting their security in the digital world; - 2 Workshops for Teachers, bringing up innovative tools and approaches in digital teaching; - 2 Weeks of International Teaching, bringing the theoretical knowledge into practice; - Web-based e-learning Toolkit (e-Toolkit): an open-access online resource to improve international mobility competencies in higher education, helping to assess competence growth; - Web-based e-learning Toolkit (e-Toolkit): an open-access online resource to improve digital competence, assessing digital competence of the participant;

Objectives

Project had 4 Intellectual Outputs (IO),Project Management Handbook,Dissemination Plan,Final Quality Report,Final Dissemination and Impact Report.Main results were the development of guidelines on International Weeks and e-Toolkit.Guidelines provide comprehensive recommendations and best practices for organizing international events covering various aspects,such as identifying competencies,analyzing teaching and learning methodologies in the context of global mobility and addressing security considerations in the digital world.They serve as a valuable resource for institutions planning and implementing similar international events, ensuring effective and successful outcomes.A complex Web-based e-learning Toolkit is an online resource designed to enhance international mobility&digital competencies in higher education.It offers a wide range of learning modules,interactive activities,multimedia resources,and collaborative tools,that can be accessed remotely,to support both students and teachers in their mobility experiences while improving their digital skills and knowledge.It also includes an assessment component to help measure and track competence growth,allowing users to monitor their progress and identify areas for improvement.

Background

We applied for this project due to the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education in 2020. The project demonstrates a proactive response to the challenges posed by the pandemic and a commitment to supporting educators and students in adapting to the new online teaching environment. By focusing on cooperation, networking, and the development of resources, we aimed to make a positive impact on education during these unprecedented times. The global health crisis necessitated a swift transition to online teaching, which presented numerous challenges for both teachers and students. The acquisition of new technical skills and the adaptation of teaching methodologies to the digital environment are indeed crucial for effective online teaching. By providing teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge, we aimed to empower them to excel in the digital teaching landscape and ensure quality education for their students. Moreover, by emphasizing the importance of cooperation and networking between organizations, we aimed to create a collaborative environment where knowledge and resources can be shared. This approach not only strengthens the educational community but also promotes collective learning and problem-solving.
