The project should make an overarching contribution to implementing the goals and challenges of the European Strategy and to addressing the challenges anchored in it, such as - Teaching intercultural competencies (including foreign language skills) - optimising the exchange of information in the administration - focusing on topics such as: "Europe and international affairs" in the political bodies and presenting itself as a cosmopolitan employer. Participants should - "think outside the box", both in terms of work and culture - get to know the respective administrative and vocational training systems and other ways of working - improve their knowledge of English (except Austria) - strengthen their openness towards other cultures - take away impulses for the development of their respective departments in their home administration - professionalise their own department through the exchange of best practices The aim was also to give the participants the necessary skills and self-confidence to actively shape the internationalisation process and to develop a willingness to engage in lifelong learning, as well as to improve their IT skills through the use of modern communication tools.
Before the district was working according to an implicit, i.e. a non-overarching and uniform strategy on internationalization. Now the process has progressed to the point where the internationalization and Europe strategy has been adopted by the district council. The project should contribute to implementing the goals and challenges of the strategy and help to see European work as a municipal task, as a cross-sectional task. The project was intended to further increase the district's European capability and to give it a more international profile. The mobilities should enable trainees and trainers to further their professional, linguistic and intercultural training and to initiate the existing need for qualification. By getting to know work processes, other structures as well as cultural conditions, the understanding of European contexts should be increased. On the other hand, the assessment of one's own abilities and further training needs should be supported. The internship should be an incentive and at the same time present the district as an attractive employer.
