The overarching goal of all international activities at Berufskolleg Meschede is: "We prepare for the internationalisation of the training and labour market!" This strategic goal provides the framework for any international activities at our school. With regard to an increasing number of internationally operating companies in the local region future trainees gain additional qualifications to be able to compete in a European market. By successfully participating in internships abroad, our students demonstrate a high level of commitment and resilience. This is appreciated by employers - especially by internationally operating companies. Stays abroad aim at improving learners' language skills during a placement in a company. In addition, international mobility is to be promoted as well as the acquisition of practical vocational skills. In this way, the students, as potential trainees, can signal Europe-wide mobility to their future training companies. The purpose of the educational staff's stays abroad was learning new techniques.
The project was marked by the Corona pandemic and planned departures were postponed or carried out under difficult circumstances. Berufskolleg Meschede has carried out European projects for several years based on regional needs. The most important need is to secure skilled labour, especially in the manufacturing sector, which is very important for the Hochsauerland district with its companies, some of which are world market leaders. The Sauerland is both an industrial centre and a holiday region. The manufacturing industry with its international orientation as well as tourism need qualified young people. Companies are increasingly looking for employees who can support them in cross-border business. A central component of securing skilled labour is attractive vocational training and further education, i.e. in future-oriented training and internship companies and modern vocational colleges. We are committed to impart comprehensive professional, social and personal competences combined with preparation for lifelong learning.
