The aim of the project was to get to know climate changes, to analyze the new work requirements and to learn how to carry them out. Through the visit to the Finnish host country, the participants realized that climate change is also causing changes in work processes in their professional field. Since extreme and frequently changing weather conditions (e.g. heavy rain, hail, extreme snowfall, strong winds, extreme heat) also present new challenges in terms of mobility and traffic. Undercarriage damage has to be repaired more often than before, different tires used, hail damage repaired, heat- and frost-resistant paintwork applied, etc.
The effects of climate change can now be seen in many areas of social, economic and public life. Changes are also becoming apparent in the fields of activity of automotive mechatronics technicians and painters and varnishers. The Gewerbeschule Mosbach has been conducting the mutual exchange with the partner school Careeria in Porvoo, Finland since 2014. Young people with a previously limited horizon of experience are given the opportunity as part of the training to get involved with a new culture and the way of life of the country in the far north. The willingness to visit a foreign country in a group requires a high degree of independence from the participants. The focus is therefore also on promoting personal development.
