The objectives of the programme are based on the development and improvement of task - based and intercultural competencies of the students. The given challenge of crossing borders is a chance to broaden the learners’ horizon, to gain international knowledge and to develop expertise in terms of life-long learning. The focus of the project is set on the confrontation with the foreign educational and health care system related to theoretical and practical parts of the training. Being and working abroad the students should get an overview of the application of nursing models, theories and concepts and the usage of care techniques and innovative nursing aids that are practiced at the host care institutions. Another aspect relates to the issues of integration and inclusion, and in particular concerning the students’ practice. Above all, the project promotes the students occupational mobility and flexibility. Further, we hope that all the gained experiences will influence the students and everybody who is involved in their practical and theoretical training in a positive and sustainable way. Another goal is the implementation of innovative technical aids using AI/robotics in healthcare. Our trainees expressed the wish to be allowed to participate in lessons in the skilllslab at school in the target country. This wish was fulfilled. The long-term goal of the Helene Engelbrecht School is an implementation of professional mobilities in all educational programs of the school.
The first project experiences in 2010, its further development and the expansion of new cooperations show us what cultural and personal added value the foreign assignment has for all project participants. We firmly believe that getting to know the training and education system in the target countries we have selected is an enrichment for the lifelong learning of our target group.
