Objectives

The development and strengthening of so-called key competences (intercultural, linguistic, social, personal competences) was at the centre of all international mobilities. Various aspects within the framework of participation in the project promoted in the participants, among others: Self-awareness, adaptability, personal responsibility, self-efficacy, solution orientation, foreign language skills, and professional action competence. These were valuable instruments for successfully shaping one's own life plan as well as active participation in the European living space (common internal labour market, mobility within the EU, identification with the European community, etc.). In the face of globalisation, refusing to increase intercultural competences means exclusion from society in the long run. However, Europe needs young generations who support the idea of the EU and who are also able and willing to help shape this space. Anchoring the EU in the lives of young people at an early stage is important in order to exploit its full potential and to help shape globalisation in a positive way. With the help of these mobilities, a foundation stone was laid for the reduction of threshold fears.

Background

In a globalised world, professional competences are indispensable and with the complexity of societal structures, key competences are of central importance. Both together pave the way for building and maintaining long-term competitiveness in the European labour market. The earlier in their school and professional careers prospective employees are offered formats for learning and promotion, the better they will be able to prove themselves with the help of valuable competences in a dynamic society and a demanding labour market. The project "Europapraktikum für Berufsschüler*innen" was dedicated to the purpose of precisely this competence promotion through the format of low-threshold mobility abroad for vocational school students in the dual and full-school training sector. In addition to personal development and professional competence, awareness of the European community, the values of the EU and an appreciative attitude towards (cultural) diversity was strengthened.
