Objectives

The overall objective of the sequa mobility programme is to improve and internationalise vocational education and training in Europe and to support the mobility of learners in dual initial training as well as of vocational training staff. By giving young people the opportunity to broaden their competences and skills through experiences abroad, the programme contributes to the fight against youth unemployment in Europe. The sequa mobility programmes contribute to achieving the goals of the common European education agenda "Education and Training 2020" (ET 2020). The consortium wants to make a substantial contribution to increasing the number of stays abroad already during vocational training and to developing a long-term mobility culture in German companies and educational institutions. In addition to an increase in the number of participants and consortium partners in the mobility programme, the continuous improvement of the quality of stays abroad is a central issue. An even more comprehensive support, preparation and accompaniment of the participants in the host country as well as their follow-up after the stay, is to be achieved.

Background

sequa gGmbH is a non-profit organisation of the German business community and a globally active development organisation. Vocational training and job mobility are core elements of sequa's corporate purpose and therefore have a particularly high priority for the organisation. sequa's commitment to vocational mobility started in 1991, the year of its foundation. sequa's mobility programme has been continuously developed and is currently designed and implemented in cooperation with the partners from the private sector, in particular the Chambers of Crafts (HWK) and the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK), which are important supporters of the German vocational training system. sequa acts as consortium leader and takes over the project management. Through close coordination with the consortium partners, who have direct access to learners in dual training and vocational training staff, a programme relevant to the target group is conceptualised and a realistic planning of the number of participants in the pool project is achieved.
