Objectives

The primary goal for our school was to take another step towards internationalization. In order to prepare the students for the international working world, it is important that they gain experience in other European countries and we also give the teachers the opportunity to gain new experience. The aim is to develop professional skills, as well as to learn about new work structures and improve language skills. These experiences improve the students' chances on the job market. Through the gained competences our students become more attractive for the dual partners in the economy, which are becoming more and more interculturally oriented. After their stay abroad, the participants may be more likely to consider applying for jobs throughout Europe and not just Germany. In this way, the shortage of skilled workers in Europe can be remedied. We also become more attractive as a school by offering stays abroad and making our teaching more bilingual. There is a great deal of competition, especially among (vocational) technical schools. This will enable us to stabilize or increase the number of students in the coming years.

Background

In order to meet our internal school quality objective "We prepare students for the requirements of the international working world", we offer them the opportunity to spend time abroad. We have been doing this since 2017 and have anchored it in the didactic annual planning. We also have the long-term goal of making our students more interculturally oriented in order to increase their chances on the job market, but also to remain competitive in the area of technical school. Our dual partners in business are strongly expanding their international activities, which is why we want to make these experiences abroad possible for the students. Furthermore, we wanted to give two teachers an insight into the everyday life of foreign colleagues through job shadowing. This broadens their own horizons and gives them new impulses for their own teaching. The two teachers were also on site as accompanying teachers for the student groups. In addition, our relationship with the Swedish school, with which we have been cooperating since 2019, could be deepened. We hope that this cooperation will allow us many more mobilities. This is planned for 2024.
