Project A aimed to provide students in the "Environmental Technical Assistant/AHR" programme with professional knowledge of drinking water extraction in Austrian and Italian suppy companies: specific water extraction/treatment processes, the relevance of European standards in quality control of drinking water, as well as regional peculiarities. The internships were meant to make the topics of "environment/sustainability" and "responsible resource management" tangible and open up future career prospects in the European area. Project B aimed to introduce students in the "Business Assistant/FHR" programme to the European labour market at institutions in the Netherlands. They were supposed to apply and expand their business and language skills in logistics and shipping companies and in an institute for German-Dutch cooperation in the economic and educational sectors. Both projects were intended to facilitate the acquisition of personal and cultural competence through interaction with different cultures in the workplace and the societal and cultural life in the host country.
The project "Lore-Lorentz goes Europe" was planned in 2 sub-projects: "A: Thinking European: Cross-border Quality Control in Drinking Water Supply" and "B: Working in Europe: 4you - Accessing the European Labour Market with 4 Fields of Work from Business and Administration." The justification for the overall project lies in its contribution to the guiding principles of Lore-Lorentz School and the goals of the European Development Plan, as described in the proposal: imparting international action competence so that students can actively find their place in the future Europe, expanding professional and intercultural competence, and increasing the internationalisation of educational programmes, promoting language proficiency. It was intended to strengthen practical elements that have special significance in full-time educational programmes leading to vocational qualifications, and thereby improve the school's quality. The specific design of the two sub-projects was well suited for this purpose.
