Objectives

The project aims to achieve several goals: language skills and understanding of cultural similarities and differences are to be strengthened and expanded. The perception of one's own culture in other countries is also an important point. The apprentices recognize the importance of mobility and good language skills for their professional future. By communicating the mobilities as part of our vocational training marketing, we want to attract applicants for an apprenticeship at ABB and thus strengthen our employer brand. At the same time, one of the goals is to get the participating apprentices excited about ABB through the measures, so that they want to continue working in the company after their apprenticeship. This is supposed to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. By travelling as a group, team cohesion, conflict and communication skills as well as independence and personal responsibility are promoted through the supervised but independent organization of the stay.

Background

ABB AG, Training Center sent a total of 17 commercial trainees to mobility measures within the framework of Erasmus+ during the requested program period 2020 - 2023. There also was a preparatory visit to Wales by the Erasmus coordinator. ABB is a global player and operates worldwide. Therefore, the top priority is to continuously train at a high level. Participation in Erasmus+ activities in vocational training is of great importance for several reasons. On the one hand, it is important for us to attract mobile and flexible employees who are open to being posted abroad and who are interested in building an international network. You should move confidently on the international stage and master this both linguistically and interculturally. The corporate language at ABB is English, and meetings are often held in English. The Erasmus projects also makes us an attractive employer in the hotly contested vocational training market.
