Objectives

The increasing cooperation of Europe is a long-term goal. It can only be achieved if many European citizens are able to communicate verbally (in oral and written form) and interculturally. After the end of the project, the participants will have developed their professional flexibility, professional competence and mobility in addition to their language and personal skills. The participants have become more courageous to use their foreign language skills even though these are not yet perfect. They experienced how to adapt to new business environments abroad. Furthermore, after having completed the project, they have developed more sensitivity for other European countries and have learned to look beyond the end of their own German nose. During their work experience in the countries they were sent to, the participants personally underwent the challenges that European colleagues have to overcome there. Therefore, an important contribution to the growth of professional competence and European mobility of young Europeans as well as to their motivation for exchange and European cooperation has been made. That finally leads to a constant growing together of the member states of the European Union and strengthens its values.

Background

Prospective tourism, forwarding and transport service clerks took part in the project for three weeks. They were sent to Italy, France and Ireland. Their intercultural and linguistic skills were deepened. They also got to know the professional perspectives of the partner countries. Their flexibility, their ability to work in a team, the development of their personality and their capacity for active EU citizenship were massively encouraged. The teachers who teach foreign languages as well as tourism, had the opportunity to strengthen their existing contacts and expand their local network by participating in the programme. At their school, they regularly pass on the knowledge they have gained as multipliers to their colleagues. They can implement their new insights in the vocational school lessons and therefore improve the quality of the tuition. In addition, their foreign language skills are deepened and updated in every language that is taught. Through the project, the institution is successively expanding its European portfolio as part of its internationalisation strategy As their exchange is certified in Europasses, the international career opportunities of the trainees are increased by the flows.
