Our major goals for trainees and young skilled workers were to become familiar with other working methods, work techniques and work processes, also to enhance personal skills and to improve their foreign language skills. A completed internship abroad should also have a positive effect on their employment opportunities by setting them apart from other applicants. Furthermore, they should develop a better understanding of the European labor market through their stay abroad. At the same time, the chances on the labor market should be improved for the trainees as they have shown flexibility by means of the internship abroad. On a personal level, the experience abroad should promote the trainees' self-confidence and openness towards other cultures or local conditions. The sending companies should be able to present themselves as attractive employers by offering internships abroad. Vocational educational trainers should get to know other working techniques throughout the project, exchange professional knowledge with foreign companies and get to know other vocational training systems.
The internationalization of the economy places new demands on vocational training. Succeeding in a globalized world, requires certain professional skills which should be gained already during the initial educational training, for example through internships in other European countries. The overall objective of the project is to promote cross-border mobilities of trainees, skilled workers, and vocational instructors in the field of skilled craft and make the possibility of professional trainings abroad more well known among companies. Furthermore, the project aims to strengthen key qualifications of trainees and enhance intercultural competencies and foreign language skills through vocational stays abroad.
