Objectives

With this project, we focused on the area of mobility for learners in vocational training. A central goal was to continue our existing range of mobility projects and expand both quantitatively and qualitatively. In the medium to long term, it was planned - in line with the goal of the German Bundestag that at least 10% of trainees should complete a learning stay abroad - that we would enable 10% of our school leavers to complete international training phases. The project was part of this plan, which was designed for a longer period of time and was intended to offer 38 learners the opportunity to gain language, technical and personal qualifications for international professional fields of activity through a structured learning mobility abroad, to break down prejudices, to get to know cultural diversity and to identify themselves as citizens of Europe. Existing partnerships and contacts were to be further expanded and strengthened, and new networks set up in order to enable our students to spend time abroad, to constantly improve joint projects and to further expand the range of offers.

Background

As part of our European Development Plan, we have identified different areas of activity: On the one hand, we want to prepare our students for learning, living and working in an international environment. Through a learning mobility abroad, learners should develop both professionally and linguistically as well as personally. This should be documented by the additional qualification "International professional mobility" by the NRW Ministry of Education, which we would like to award. To do this, we must, among other things, enable international training phases. Another concern for us is the expansion of our European team, which has been active for many years, and the improvement of our project management. Interested colleagues should be given the opportunity to build up and expand project management skills for European projects. By participating in training courses abroad, their intercultural skills are strengthened and useful international contacts are made. Information about learning mobilities in other European countries as well as reports on projects and internships abroad are also the focus of a school event, our annual Europe Day.
