Cooperation between educational institutions and business

Objectives

This project aims to improve the technical, methodological, communicative and intercultural skills of students and teachers. The mobilities for teachers were designed as job shadowing. In addition to an expected increase in foreign language skills, the exchange of experiences in pedagogical practice and an enrichment of methodical and professional skills were the focus here. At the same time, the integrated visits to local companies should strengthen their practical knowledge of relevant operational processes and the cooperation between school and business. With an intensified cooperation with the Lithuanian partner institution, we aimed in particular at the "internationalization" of another department, namely warehouse logistics. The mobilities for the trainees were structured in a similar way. Targeted learning activities in the internship companies should not only strengthen their professional qualifications, but also make an important contribution to increasing their foreign language and intercultural skills. Their involvement in the processes and staff of their internship companies should demand the skills they have acquired so far and expand and strengthen them. In our opinion, the skills acquired and the experience gained should also have a positive influence on the corporate culture of one’s own company. The cultural activities planned alongside the main work in the companies should also help to strengthen these skills and, last but not least, give the participants the opportunity to get to know another country in the European Union better. In this way - which is often lamented as abstract and bureaucratic - Europe should be made individually experienceable and the development of an active citizenship of the Union should be strengthened in the long term.

Background

Our school is one of two vocational schools in the Börde district in the western part of Saxony-Anhalt and offers young people a wide range of training opportunities, which on the one hand correspond to their skills and abilities and on the other hand take into account the needs of the regional job market. We feel obliged to provide the young people entrusted to us with an education that allows them to meet the demands of an increasingly knowledge-based society in a united Europe. In the development of their professional, social and intercultural skills, we see the proven pedagogical means for the best possible development of their personalities. As a "Europe school", we feel committed to the European idea. Part of our philosophy is an education that promotes openness, tolerance and intercultural competence in the trainees. In order to be able to achieve these goals, we rely on intensive cooperation with national and international partners. That is why our school focuses on qualified training with an international orientation in all subject areas. An integral part of the training is therefore the acquisition and deepening of foreign language skills. We consider internships abroad to be a tried and tested means for young people to get to know the living and working world in Europe. So our strategy is based on the ideas of the European single market and active citizenship. The recognition of development opportunities, especially professional ones, requires getting to know other living and working environments. Making this possible was and is the top priority of what we do. In this way, our facility also makes an important contribution to strengthening local companies. The increased cooperation between business and schools is another central concern for us. Vocational training can only be successfully designed if schools and training companies work together effectively.
