The Landesamt für Schule und Bildung Sachsen saw three central needs that were addressed by the mobility project. First, the stays abroad were intended to increase the action and key competencies of the learning and teaching participants. Secondly, the focus was on conveying democratic values in the face of growing xenophobia, nationalism and everyday racism. The aim was to increase participants' appreciation of diversity, cultural awareness and openness through their experiences in foreign institutions. Third, the consortium aimed to strengthen the attractiveness of Saxon vocational school locations through internationalization measures. Through their involvement in the consortium, the participating schools were also able to expand their competencies in relation to European projects.
The Landesamt für Schule und Bildung Sachsen and the vocational schools participating in the consortium have the common concern to continuously increase the quality of vocational education. European mobility should make a significant contribution to this by encouraging participants through the challenge of a stay abroad to strengthen their action competence and to apply key competencies and foreign language skills. All actors in vocational education and training in the participating institutions should also benefit from the expansion of professional competencies through the change of perspective of a mobility. All the schools involved in the consortium share the common goal of consolidating European cooperation and intercultural exchange and thus promoting internationalization processes in their own institutions.
