Objectives

The "fitter-4-job" program aims to qualify our students for professional life, prepare them for an apprenticeship and also motivate them to try new things. Through the "Professional Development Program" the students should get to know the operational processes of an international company as well as the position of Ireland in the EU or get to know interesting facts of Irish law. In addition, the language skills of the participants should be improved. The students should break down language barriers through daily speaking. The second goal is to expand the international focus of the Neuburg business school. Participants are expected to experience a new culture by living with host families. In this setting they experience firsthand the values and norms of Irish culture. As a result, the students see the similarities between the two European cultures and internalize the basic idea of a united Europe. Learning to be independent and taking on personal responsibility go along with that.

Background

The two main goals of our stay in Dublin were to advance internationalization at our school and also to qualify our students for professional life. The stay abroad is a great addition to the career orientation program at our school. The participants have the opportunity to further develop their language skills through a language course, they gain practical and professional experience through company visits and the "Professional Development Program", and, by staying with host families, the young people also acquire social and language skills which will benefit them later in their professional life. Additionally, this program creates a meaningful link to the bilingual courses offered at our school. The students participating in our “fitter-4-job” program are encouraged to share their experiences with the rest of the school family. With "fitter-4-job", the business school Neuburg can establish contacts to other European countries and, thereby, strengthen the cohesion within the European Union. On top of that, our business school establishes contacts with the cooperation partner “Internships Ireland” and can, thus, expand its portfolio and promote internationalization.
