Objectives

This application was characterized by the following objectives: expansion of European activities to additional European countries, intensification of training for educational personnel in European countries, an increase in the number of short-term mobilities for learners, and the inclusion of additional educational programs in European activities. As mentioned above, BBS Ammerland sees its mission and responsibility in strengthening the idea of European cooperation and fostering greater openness to European issues and individuals with migrant backgrounds among students, teachers, and training companies. Since a high percentage of young people with migrant backgrounds are educated at our school, for example, in language learning classes, promoting cultural openness and acceptance of "foreign" lifestyles is very important to prevent conflicts from arising. Specifically, we aimed to further develop language skills of students and teachers, approach neighboring countries through partnerships and mobility activities in France, Poland, and Austria, strengthen cultural understanding through work and living experiences in European countries, raise awareness for a European model, enhance self-competence through independent action in "foreign" environments, and develop tolerance for different ways of life.

Background

The European and international engagement of the school should be further expanded. The expansion of European and international engagement is mentioned as one of the 7 central goals in the school program. It remains a consensus within the school that in times of increasing globalization, an understanding and openness to other countries and cultures must be fostered, as well as the recognition that many problems are often of a global nature and can only be resolved through engagement with people from different countries, backgrounds, cultures, and languages. BBS Ammerland serves as a regional competence center and thus has taken on a significant responsibility for the Ammerland region. "Together, reliable, and future-oriented" are the keywords of the school's mission statement. A forward-looking vocational education is only possible, as mentioned above, in collaboration with other nations and through cross-border exchange and discourse. The necessary cultural and language competencies are strengthened through authentic experiences in the target country. Therefore, the international activities of BBS Ammerland are of great regional importance. Apprentices who return from international mobility experiences and share positive stories, as well as establish contacts with European countries, also open up new horizons for their colleagues in regional businesses. Consequently, the completed stays abroad should further develop the language, professional, and cultural competencies of all participants in the project.
