Objectives

1. the intercultural competence of the trainees from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of hairdressing training should be increased: hairdressing training should be perceived in an international context and the importance of a qualifying vocational training with European recognition should be realised and reflected. 2. within the framework of vocational and practical competence, training and salon standards in Germany and Italy should be compared, different hairdressing services should be consolidated and deepened, and country-specific craft features should be learned. Fashion and trends in Europe should be recognised and compared. And finally, mobility should be recognised as a professional and career opportunity. 3. language competence: the English language should be deepened and an introduction to the Italian language should take place. (Language course in March at ESSS). 4. trainees should continue to develop their personal competence, gain more independence and self-confidence in a foreign environment, in a foreign workplace abroad.

Background

In this project, "Vocational exchange and school partnership for hairdressing trainees", the aim was to enable trainees from the hairdressing department of the Ehrhart-Schott-Schule in Schwetzingen to have a vocational exchange with a neighbouring European country. The school partnership with the partner school in Como/Italy was to be expanded and deepened. As part of the project, the CFP vocational training centre in Como (AFOL Como) provided host hairdressing businesses where the German trainees could complete a two-week work placement in addition to attending school. Previously, four students from the CFP Como spent five weeks as guests at the ESSS and in hairdressing companies in and around Schwetzingen. During this time, Italian lessons were offered to the German trainees at the ESSS school. Within the framework of the current project, the trainees were therefore also to be given the opportunity to expand the contacts they had made and to deepen their language skills in English and Italian.
