The objective of conducting a mobility project with the partner Savon koulutuskuntayhtymä in Finland could not be realized. After the COVID-19 pandemic, this partner initially suspended its European activities. Fortunately, a new project partner was found. The Catalan Department of Education, with whom the project was ultimately successfully carried out. The project included a Job Shadowing program in collaboration with the Catalan Department of Education. During this program, the 21 beneficiaries visited both the Catalan Department of Education and Spanish vocational schools, as well as the German vocational school FEDA in Barcelona. The program was complemented by a company visits and cultural side events. The main focus of the project activities revolved around the topics of inclusion, vocational education in Spain, individual support and the establishment of a long-term collaboration. For example, the more individualized teaching and learning arrangements tailored to the learners' needs, as well as the impact of the greater financial autonomy of Finnish schools were of interest. Moreover, Finland, as a former model country in the PISA assessments and a leader in digitalization, appeared to be especially suitable as a partner for the increasing Europeanization of teacher education at the Stuttgart Seminar.
European countries have different educational systems, especially concerning vocational education. Getting to know and analyzing these diverse forms of educational systems with their complex educational and operational structures allows for a diversification of our own problem-solving strategies. The Seminar für Ausbildung und Fortbildung der Lehrkräfte Stuttgart (Berufliche Schulen) hoped that through this project and its following activities the beneficiaries could expand both their professional and personal competence by being introduced to and experiencing other concepts and organizational forms in teacher training. Another important goal, particularly regarding digitalization and the increasing needs in individual student support, was to learn about new teaching and learning methods and experience them being already implemented by the Finnish partner. Furthermore, there were plans to aim for consortium projects in cooperation with Finnish partners and beyond, with the medium-term goal of jointly developing e-learning modules for teacher education.
