The participating students should be supported in acquiring professional and personal skills (foreign language, methodological, personal and social skills, as well as in the formation of a pedagogical attitude). One focus of the project is to experience opportunities for children, young people and people with disabilities to participate in educational institutions. This should be a contribution to democracy building and promote an active commitment to human rights and democracy among the participants. In times of burgeoning populism in society, students should gain democratic stability. In addition, the internships abroad are intended to improve employability on the European labor market and promote the willingness for professional mobility. The professional competence should be expanded by getting to know and dealing with different pedagogical concepts, different educational systems of leading education and work in the children and youth as well as disabled people in the respective host countries. The participants should also get to know different forms of organization of the health, social and education systems of the host country.
This project should focus on the participation of children, young people and people with disabilities. Participation in elementary education, child and youth care, and integration assistance is considered an opportunity to learn about democratic processes and thus strengthen the democracy of the state. Participation is a cross-sectional task in the curriculum of the School of Social Sciences, which was introduced in 2017, and is particularly important in the practical projects of our students in project lessons. Children's rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as quality management in socio-educational institutions, are closely related to this topic. We hope that our participants will be able to critically reflect on their own professional activities and receive suggestions in the areas of participation, inclusion, political participation (empowerment)/co-determination and gender equality through the exchange and the range of experiences in the mobility. In addition, the professional self-esteem of the participants should be strengthened and promoted through the diverse insights into different educational systems and culturally shaped forms of society.
