The aim was for learners to gain insights into the world of work, culture and everyday life in different European countries as part of mobility activities abroad. In addition to the development of intercultural competences (cosmopolitanism, tolerance, intercultural understanding), the foreign language skills of the participants were to be expanded. In addition, learners should have the opportunity to develop their personal and social skills, especially with regard to independence, problem-solving skills and self-confidence. By completing an internship in a foreign company, the apprentices should experience their professional opportunities in an international context and improve their chances on the training market. For the sending institution, Berufskolleg Wirtschaft und Verwaltung Siegen, the project served to bring international partnerships to life and expand them. The internationalisation of the vocational college as a "European School in North Rhine-Westphalia" is one of the main tasks and goals of this educational institution and is part of the Erasmus plan within the framework of the Erasmus+ accreditation.
The project is an essential part of the efforts of the Berufskolleg Wirtschaft und Verwaltung to fulfil the European development plan and to further internationalise the school. As a "European School in North Rhine-Westphalia", the school is particularly keen to prepare students for the challenges of a globalised economic world and at the same time to carry out educational work geared towards cosmopolitanism and tolerance. In concrete terms, the main purpose of this project was to offer the learners of the Berufskolleg Wirtschaft und Verwaltung Siegen opportunities to gain international experience within the framework of an internship abroad and to improve their foreign language skills, their personal skills and their intercultural competences.
