Ideas for the qualification and accompaniment of volunteers should be developed into concrete plans and realisations for local and regional offers by the participating organisations. The ideas should be verified by an assessed need. In an expression of interest, participants should describe their concrete learning interests and development needs. The preparatory meeting should provide information, enable participants and partners to get to know each other, discover their needs and interests, and further clarify ideas for implementation. Therefore, main and voluntary staff should experience different training and accompaniment formats. The learning visits should take place in small groups to promote networking between Caritas associations. European learning only takes place in mutual exchange. Therefore, the participants also presented their practice during the visits. At the follow-up meeting, the ideas, plans and implementations were to be presented. The partners should also be present for joint reflection.
Caritas sees itself as an advocate, service provider and benefactor of solidarity; it provides services and facilities for children, young people, the elderly, the disabled and of health care as well as work with disadvantaged people and those experienced poverty. In order to be able to offer these people adequate help, new, context-appropriate and above all target group-oriented innovative offers are needed. This will be deepened and further developed through networking with the European Caritas associations. A special role is played here by formal as well as informal qualification of full-time and voluntary staff. The implementation of the project gave them the space and resources to turn these ideas into real innovations. In this way, full-time and voluntary workers were to be further empowered to develop and implement educational and support services.
