Objectives

The project aimed to address the issue of validation and how to measure and validate learning experiences and competences outside formal education and training. This is an issue in almost every training we organise and after every Erasmus+ mobility. Through better validation of non-formal and informal competences and learning outcomes by us and our training staff, participants in our training events should be empowered to better assess their own skills and experiences and to use them more appropriately for their personal development in the future in the labour market or in continuing their educational pathway. Different goals were also set with regard to different subject areas. With regard to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), environmental awareness and the topic of sustainability should also be promoted. The acquisition of technical and methodological knowledge to intensify the work and training of further multipliers on ESD in the rural regions of Brandenburg was also a goal. In the thematic field of "games and creative methods", innovative and new methods for knowledge transfer and validation were to be taught. The focus was to be on overcoming disadvantages, for example through language. Furthermore, in the field of (educational) work with migrants and refugees, the focus should be on effective validation of integration work, for example by looking at existing competences and their possible adaptation to applicable standards. In general, the trainings should be used to promote the intercultural exchange of experiences among colleagues, to convey new perspectives, best practice teaching-learning methods, materials and innovative approaches.

Background

These mobilities focused on the validation of non-formal and informal competences and learning outcomes. For us and our educational staff, the question arose each time anew as to how the diverse and extensive (learning) experiences that were made can be validated and used personally in the future. Although this topic has been topical for years, especially at the European level, there is still no universally recognised system for validating these non-formally and informally acquired competences, and it has become even more important, especially with the influx of many refugees since 2015. In our work as an association, it has also become clear time and again that this topic is becoming increasingly important and that further education with regard to the reflective approach to other perspectives should be particularly promoted. For this reason, the topics of education for sustainable development, game-based learning, creative educational methods and work with migrants and refugees were considered in the context of various validation methods.
