The present project LIFE 2 consists of 24 individual mobilities for the purpose of further training for our lecturers. It is the continuation of the LIFE 1 project, which was carried out very successfully in the years 2018 to 2020, so that the demand from the many new lecturers is very high. The aim is to continue our European development plan on the path we have taken by pursuing the following goals in particular: Goal 1: Over the next few years, we would like to give some of the approximately 190 lecturers who work for us the opportunity, in the sense of the adult education curriculum, to get to know Europe in its diversity and the common heritage, a common cultural tradition and a common reality of life as part of the interdisciplinary educational tasks to accomplish. This includes in particular the challenges of increased intercultural educational tasks. Goal 2: At the same time, all lecturers who take part in the project should receive a higher level of knowledge, skills and professionalism, because some of our lecturers do not have a teaching background. Goal 3: The employees employed in organization and administration are to be enabled through job shadowing measures to provide better and more diverse services and thus to be comparable with other institutions. Goal 4: In particular, in this project the EUROPEAN AGENDA OF ADULT EDUCATION be implemented, the goals of which we have specified for our institution in relation to this project: 1. We want to ensure that every adult has the opportunity to learn quality and cheaply throughout their lives. Management skills and employee skills must be strengthened here. 2. We want to improve the efficiency and quality of the education and training we offer. In particular, these are getting to know new teaching methods or teaching materials, the European dimension and improving language skills. 3. Through our educational offerings and their implementation, we want to promote equal opportunities and contribute to social cohesion through active citizenship. To this end, we too must organize teaching and learning more effectively and comprehensively. In addition, one must break new ground in the field of intercultural education. 4. We want our courses to strengthen the creativity and innovative power of adults and their learning environment. 5. We want to improve the population's knowledge base about adult education in such a way that more adults and educationally disadvantaged groups take part in the courses. In this way we reduce the offer threshold and take away any fears that may exist. 6. We want to enable adult learners to move in a positive and integrative way, both linguistically and culturally, in another European country. In particular, this promotes the need for mobility when working abroad.
The Volkshochschule Schrobenhausen e.V. is a typical German adult education center located in the small town of Schrobenhausen in Bavaria. It is located in the rural area between Munich and Ingolstadt. For more than 70 years, adult education in Schrobenhausen has not been organized by the city administration, but by the non-profit association VOLKSHOCHSCHULE SCHROBENHAUSEN E.V. In the VHS Schrobenhausen, more than 300 courses are offered every six months by around 190 lecturers; these numbers vary greatly, as the VHS Schrobenhausen is always up to date and includes new courses in the program, but also sells courses that are not in demand. The adult education center registers around 5,000 participants (learners) from the population of Schrobenhausen and the surrounding area every year, with a positive trend. Since the lecturers always have to be up to date in terms of didactics, methods and content, the predecessor project LIFE 1 was offered in 2018 and was very successful. In order to be able to continue to carry out further training for lecturers, we had applied for LIFE 2, which is now coming to an end. This project also allowed us to offer around 24 training courses and job shadow training courses abroad.
