Specific learning goals and tasks are set according to the various curricula and guidelines of each professional branch. Course contents and intercultural strategies are taught in classes and students are encouraged to transfer their knowledge and skills into their practical training abroad. Specific goals and accomplishments are also documented in the Learning Agreement, the Europass, and individual task papers. These refer to learning objectives, such as gaining professional, social and intercultural skills. In general, the goal is to develop the student with the capacity to act professionally and responsibly. (See for example: https://www.kks-marburg.com/seite/596829/erasmus+-in-der-fachschule-f%C3%BCr-sozialwesen.html). Learning abroad is supposed to improve students’ professional abilities and to support the introduction to their first work place experiences. Practical goals are also specified in the project plans. Learning goals on higher levels with reference to the European dimension are illustrated in the school guidelines and the international strategy papers. These apply to students, staff and members from the field of work.
Since 2000 the “Fachschule für Sozialwesen“ has been offering students the chance to go abroad for a 6-week-practical training and has continuously developed content, quality standards, as well as procedures and care for the students within the Erasmus+ project. Meanwhile other branches of the Käthe-Kollwitz-School also offer students’ internships abroad (hotel/gastronomy, which had to be cancelled due to the Corona crisis in March 2020-2022) on a regular basis. In addition, staff mobilities have been implemented according to the international strategy and school development goals. The Trinational Seminar (with the USA and Northern Ireland), the Peru-project, various internal diversity activities and the Erasmus+ program are key components in realizing our transcultural and international aims in teaching and within the school community. Since 2015 the Käthe-Kollwitz-School is certified with the Erasmus+ Charter, since 2020 accredited . Specific goals for internships abroad are evident in the school guidelines (see:https://www.kks-marburg.com/seite/579744/internationales.html and https://www.kks-marburg.com/seite/594437/erasmus+.html) as well as the transcultural curriculum (see:https://daten2.verwaltungsportal.de/dateien/seitengenerator/9a11f5e5b2a3a4ed01911002a4cf4d39230483/fsp_2019_transkulturelles_curriculum_2019.pdf). Furthermore, the school maintains ongoing contacts with partners for example in Finland, Sweden and Romania; thereby student and staff exchanges happen both ways. The qualitative and quantitative continuation of the Erasmus+ project is one major goal of the school’s international strategy.
