Objectives

Lower Saxony’s southern region is a structurally weak area. Through our Mobility Charter Project our students get the opportunity to gain professional experience in an international context. In this context we intend to make a contribution to improving the level of key competences and skills, with a focus on their relevance for the labour market and their contribution to a cohesive society, in particular through increased opportunities for learning mobility and through a closer cooperation between the world of education and training and the world of work. Our project supports language learning, mainly for English and Spanish, on an elementary level also French, Polish and Czech. Students will profit from an improved learning performance, enhanced employability and improved career prospects. A three-week work placement is an integral part of the additional qualification as European Business Assistant which BBS1 provides. This extra qualification intensifies contact to enterprises and lets our college support skills acquisitions for our vocational students. BBS1 also plans to develop staff competences by offering one-week mobility for educational staff (VETPROs).

Background

Our Mobility Charter Project “Mobility and International Vocational Skills” as a project for learners and staff in higher education and vocational education (VET) is a part of the internationalisation strategy of Europa-Schule BBS1 Northeim. At BBS1 internationalisation is part of our mission statement and has found its way into our college’s organizational structure and program. Our profile as a “Europa-Schule”, a college with a special European focus that offers for example sustainable mobility projects as an important component of international activities, is meant to support students and adult learners and equip them with the necessary competence to master extensive soft skills and business competence in international environments. All with the aim of offering better job opportunities and preparing our students for their future in a globalized world. Sustainable mobility projects increase our college’s attractiveness and strengthen the cooperation with enterprises, chambers and further educational institutions. With the integration of further vocational colleges and local enterprises in our mobility project, we support internationalization in such institutions and prepare them for an independent Erasmus application.
