The aim of our project is to prepare our students for the world of work in an international environment. This includes, among other things, the opportunity to get to know the way of working in another European country. Intercultural education is a high priority at Berufskolleg Südstadt and is taken very seriously in all courses and by all staff. Broadening the horizons of trainees and colleagues and implementing the competences and skills acquired abroad in the classroom is the declared aim of the mobilities. This ensures a constant expansion and updating of teaching.
The project "Work placements in European companies" has been carried out at the Berufskolleg Südstadt in Cologne for many years, firstly to give our full-time school trainees of commercial assistants and assistants for foreign languages as well as the Wirtschaftsgymnasium with additional qualification foreign language assistants the opportunity to put into practice the competences and skills they have learned in class, and secondly to enable the trainees, also in the dual education courses, to look beyond their own horizons. The training landscape in the EU is very diverse and the ERASMUS+ project also opens up the possibility for colleagues to broaden their competences. They often serve as role models for the trainees here. As an award-winning European school in NRW for many years, the internship abroad is an integral part of the mission statement for the Berufskolleg Südstadt and has been extended to other courses in recent years and the European dimension has also been firmly implemented in the didactic annual plans.
