Objectives

This project aimed to increase the international professional competence of our students and thus make them internationally competitive. In the course of globalisation and stronger internationalisation of the world of work, the demands on our students are increasing, so that international competence is increasingly required. Promoting this competence enabled the best possible entry into the professional world. In addition, this project contributed to strengthening the international competitiveness of our corporate partners - the training companies in the dual system as well as the potential employers of our full-time students. If we involve as many learners as possible in exchange activities, the companies will benefit from their experience. We also aimed to increase international competences for our education staff. They can motivate, mentor and share their experiences with the student body. In addition, the mobility of the educational staff increased the attractiveness of our school as an internationally networked place of learning and working. Moreover, our school is one of diversity, which is why our mobility project aimed to promote intercultural competence and tolerance.

Background

The Berufskolleg Halle has been recertified as a European School for the second time. We have been involved in projects with foreign partners for over a decade and successfully completed several KA1 and KA2 projects. This project is the final one under the mobility charter we successfully applied for. For the Berufskolleg Halle, internationalisation and cultural exchange have been important goals and components of our school programme for years. Achieving the 10% decree of the state of NRW motivated us to enable as many pupils as possible to do an internship abroad and thus gain an intercultural experience. We wanted to help our students to be optimally prepared for the world of work and to be competitive there. Intercultural learning, competence development in the foreign language and active experience of the EU within this project are suitable for this purpose. We also carry this international orientation into the network "Fit for Europe" of the Detmold administrative district, in which we support other schools in sending their learners abroad.
