On the one hand, our goal was to achieve a safe handling of staff iPads and to explore how iPads can be effectively used in the classroom. Furthermore, it is important for the ongoing digitization process to be familiar with apps, programs, and resources that can be meaningfully utilized in teaching. In addition, we aimed to promote international exchange. Teachers were encouraged to improve their intercultural competence, which includes being proficient in a foreign language and having knowledge about other European countries, for example.
As a European school, it is always our special concern to raise awareness among colleagues for the European idea and to highlight the necessity of international and intercultural collaboration. Last year, we were recertified, and it was particularly emphasized as positive that we also offer teacher training and strive for and pursue collaboration with the STEM field. We would like to continue working on this in the future. Furthermore, we saw a need to provide targeted training for teachers at our school in the field of digitization, as the introduction of staff and student iPads has led to predominantly digital teaching in almost all grade levels. This affects both lesson preparation and follow-up as well as classroom instruction. With the multitude of possibilities, it is important to know which apps are available that can be used in different subjects and phases of instruction. In order to gain an overview and a collection of ideas for designing instruction, this project was planned and implemented.
