Objectives

Since the focus of the project was on school and lesson organization aspects, two goals were particularly important for the participating colleagues: 1. Questions of lesson organization such as lesson preparation, lesson implementation, forms of student’s work in the lesson, dealing with students, forms of teaching (in analogue and digital form), implementing of self-organized learning of the students and last but not least, of course, forms of evaluation and their organization. Naturally, discussions with our Finnish colleagues were the priority. 2. Questions of embedding in the school organization: Here, discussions with the headteacher, but also with the colleagues responsible for the organization of the lessons, the computer system of the school, the library or the canteen should give an insight into how the organizational framework should be designed.

Background

The participating teachers of the Anne Frank Gymnasium Erding knew Myllytullin Koulu in Oulu/Finland from an earlier, very successful Erasmus plus project. This was an exchange project with students. The German colleagues were always impressed by many important aspects of Finnish school life, which they wished to understand and get to know better in order to possibly implement them in school life at Anne Frank Gymnasium. Unfortunately, due to the form of the earlier project with students, there was of course not enough time for the accompanying teachers to get to know structures, working methods and work processes more precisely, since the focus was of course on looking after the students. For this reason, the Finnish colleagues suggested the idea of organizing a visit as part of job shadowing in order to have more time for school and lesson organization issues. We were happy to accept the invitation from our Finnish colleagues and headmistress and successfully applied for a job shadowing project.
