Objectives

- The increasing internationalisation of the vocational world of work requires that vocational school teachers can complete their compulsory company internship abroad in order to prepare trainees in the best possible way. - Most teachers do not have a teaching qualification in English. Although all teachers have basic knowledge of English from their own school days, this is not sufficient to maintain our partnerships and international networks or even to teach subject lessons in English. The English skills of school management, administrative staff and colleagues should be improved through one-week language courses. - Basic Spanish skills and Spanish culture have become indispensable in the tourism industry. Teachers who teach in the training profession of tourism clerks lack the necessary competences to convey these contents to the students. The aim is to enable teachers to teach students basic Spanish vocabulary and cultural traditions of Spanish-speaking countries. - As a model school for Industry 4.0, we need to advance digitalisation in the school in order to be able to implement new digital methods in our school.

Background

Internationalisation is a central part of our school culture and therefore anchored in our school’s concept understanding of quality: - We maintain a large number of international partnerships as part of our internationalisation strategy. - Our training companies are active all over the world and expect us to prepare the trainees for this and provide them with the corresponding international experience. - In some apprenticeships, the curriculum demands English lessons to be integrated into the learning fields and to no longer be an independent subject (CLIL). - The foreign language skills of school staff should be improved. - Digitalisation does not stop at national borders and therefore requires new qualifications and competences for teachers, administration staff and school management. - The new training occupation of management assistants for e-commerce has been located at our vocational school for all of Upper Franconia since the 2018/2019 school year and requires corresponding subject-specific competences of the teaching staff.
