Objectives

Participating in the mobility “media literacy and media education”, we would like to create awareness for this important topic at our school, especially among colleagues and students. We expect to receive new ideas and suggestions for teaching and for extracurricular activities. Thus, we hope for assistance in: - content-related work around the main topic of the mobility, - administrative / organisational aspects, - learning about methodical and didactic approaches, - achieving personal progress, - developing and supporting a European identity

Background

Goetheschule Hannover is characterised by a diverse student body and a very active school life. The school focuses on building a diverse and inclusive school culture. Offering a great variety of extracurricular activities as well as a wide range of international exchange programmes and other international projects, the school tries to achieve this goal. Furthermore, Goetheschule highly supports computer-science education. Consequently, the students can even take their final exams in this subject. Starting from grade five, young students can engage in the field of robot programming, and teams of students regularly participate in regional, national and international competitions. In summer 2019 Goetheschule moved into a new building which is equipped with new electronic devices and digital media. This offers new opportunities for all subjects with regard to digitalisation; however, it has to be explored how to incorporate the new equipment into the culture of learning. Goetheschule take a first step by introducing laptops and tablet classes from grade 7. Yet, it still needs a comprehensive concept for digitalisation that is supported by all subjects.
