Objectives

This situation led to ideas and plans involving new members of staff, both from teaching staff and the board, to participate in structured courses for management and school development, but also for our leading topics decided upon earlier in that year, namely learning cultures, digitalisation and sustainability. Our focus was to include new members of staff and members of non-linguistic departments, who are mostly less inclined to take part in international activities, but who could then spread their newly acquired competencies to their colleagues. Also, we planned to enable colleagues to improve their linguistic capacities to feel fit to help maintain our long existing and new international partnerships. Our aim was to give all of the many interested new members, especially from the departments chemistry, physics, PE, history and political sciences a priority.

Background

When we planned and applied for this project in autumn 2019, our Erasmus team were in high spirits: we had only started to participate in a wonderful KA2-project, that drew a lot of positive attention and feedback from colleagues, parents and students alike. Apart from that, several of our staff were highly motivated to be involved in international projects and school development as such. We also had many ideas to continue our long existing and new international partnerships and foster our professional competence. Our school was growing and we experienced a rising demand for and interest in opportunities for international students‘ activities. At the same time, due to fluctuation, we felt it necessary to integrate new members of staff in our plans and activities. Therefore, the starting point was a mix of ideas and plans involving new members of the board interested in school management and development on the one hand and, on the other hand, members of non-language departments who wished to take part in international projects.
