The objective of our school was to integrate this project as a strategic instrument in the school's quality development efforts. This encompassed the planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing projects with European and international schools. By the year 2022, our school aimed to establish two long-term international school partnerships, one in a European country and one with Israel, along with another Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project starting from the 2020/21 school year. Through various European teacher training programs, Eduard-Breuninger-Schule sought to expand project management competencies, intercultural skills, language proficiencies, and cross-cutting competencies to strengthen the internationalization and European dimension of our school.
During the implementation of our first Erasmus+ project (Key Action 2) at our school from 2017 to 2019, we identified the need to enhance our project management skills, linguistic competencies, and intercultural proficiencies. Furthermore, the percentage of students with foreign backgrounds has seen a significant increase in recent years, partly due to the institutionalization of our VABO classes (preparatory year for work and career for students without German language skills). Therefore, it is imperative to deepen and expand the existing interest among our faculty in intercultural themes, with a particular focus on fostering an understanding of societal, linguistic, and cultural diversity, as well as improving foreign language proficiency. This initiative aims to boost the overall work motivation of our teachers and enhance the quality of their activities for our students.
