It was important for us, to foster the exchange between the teachers, to transfer the enthusiasm into the school. Furthermore, we aimed at creating bonds for upcoming partnerships between schools and additionally, create contacts concerning job-shadowing, and get insights into different school systems. Our teachers aimed for reflecting their work dealing with our heterogenous pupils. More than that they should learn more about the conditions that lead to difficulties concerning the social integration. The acquisition of strategies to support our pupils optimally and to create a positive classroom atmosphere was an important goal, too. Therefore, they intended to enrich their repertoire of methods, to get impulses for the organization of their lessons and the daily routine at the school in general. It was our goal to improve ourselves as designers of our school into the direction of educational justice, to support our teachers on their way to accept our pupils, especially when they act differently from the awaited manner, to accompany our pupils on their way to find a place in their classes and in our society in general.
In our everyday school life, we observe students with a wide variety of problems. In some cases, they have disorders such as ADD/ADHD, autism or they have problems integrating into classes. The reasons for this are of various kinds: bullying experiences during their school years in the past or migration experiences. We want to provide a safe learning environment for all these students, so that they can develop in the best possible way according to their performance. We have been working on this project to develop our teaching activities with regard to the optimal support and integration of all students. Furthermore, this project should be the starting point to establish international cooperation and exchange ideas with colleagues from other countries and backgrounds. This should help us as a school to approve our own approaches to teacher action and to find new approaches in dealing with our increasingly heterogeneous student body.
