In the course of the digitization of our school, which takes place at the beginning of the 2023/24 school year, there is currently a special focus on the development of methodological skills and problem-solving strategies in the field of digital media. In addition to getting to know and trying out digital media and apps, media education and media didactic questions as well as the aspect of data protection also play a role. Teachers should be empowered to open up new ways for students to learn independently. The intention was to link the everyday life of the students in a suitable way with the content of the lessons in order to increase motivation when learning. It was important to us that the teachers came from different departments in order to inform their colleagues in the respective departments about the contents of the further training measures at work meetings and to show them how they could be implemented at our school. At an all-teacher conference, the results applicable to their work should then be explained to the teachers of the other departments, as well as the profitable experiences from the European point of view, which resulted from the exchange with teachers from other countries, should be made visible.
This mobility project for the further training of educational staff in other European countries fits seamlessly into the media development plan of the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium. Participation in individual courses should help to promote the digital media competence of the staff. We hoped for many practical examples from the course providers in order to use digital media in a meaningful and benefit-oriented manner in the classroom. Strengthening the ability to act and self-confidence in dealing with digital media in order to be able to teach learners media skills was also a major concern for us. We also promised ourselves methods for a critical examination of the media. We were particularly interested in the further training courses in other European countries because the exchange of experiences when meeting colleagues is an enriching component that should not be underestimated. Ultimately, contacts can also be made during a short study visit, from which joint projects in the field of e-Twinning can later be developed or diverse forms of student exchanges can arise.
