Objectives

School staff constantly face changes, has to manage new tasks, and are emotionally challenged. Regarding Guiding Principle 1, the focus should be on promoting the ability to deal with stress and integrate relevant techniques into daily life as part of health prevention. The facilitators should convey strategies for coping with the challenges of everyday school life through their acquired knowledge. Guiding Principle 2:Students need to be prepared for the reality outside of school. Aspects include language development and fostering openness towards other countries and cultures. The focus is on the role model of the teacher. Additionally, internationalization should be achieved through new contacts and partnerships with European schools, allowing for the exploration of new teaching approaches and methods. National identity should be understood and reflected upon, opening up the perspective to see oneself as a European and considering this as an enrichment. Guiding Principle 3: The school collaborates with the community, local heritage association, and in part with the Esterwegen Memorial on the 'Wietmarscher Gedenken' project. It aims to examine the history, the perspectives on it and aspects of European memorial culture to develop new ideas for the existing project or develop even new project concepts. Students learn values such as tolerance, the European idea, and the rejection of xenophobia.

Background

Our school is located in a very rural area and had made little adaptation to modern times in the years leading up to the application. Therefore, the overarching goal of the project was to make the school more modern, open to the world, and healthier through “Lohner legen los - Eine Landschule zieht in die Welt!” As a first step, the school's curriculum was revised and eight guiding principles were established, with three guiding principles to be significantly emphasized to advance the school through the project: 1. Responsible handling of one's own body 2. Experiences in language and culture 3. Responsible acting in society and the environment Regarding these focal points, the project should provide us with input and inspiration through training and exchanges, especially through international contacts and European cooperation, to continuously facilitate our development.
