Objectives

Participation in the Erasmus+ project was beneficial to the development of our school in two ways: we further developed our teaching offer and gained a wide range of experience and made contacts that we also want to use in future project work. We noticed an increase in job satisfaction through the professionalization of the colleagues involved and a pull effect on the entire teaching staff. The colleagues also experienced a special appreciation when they were able to pass on their learning successes as multipliers. The content of the selected courses included individualized work and differentiation in lessons, the organization of teaching and learning, the use of new teaching methods and teaching aids such as tablets and apps, the improvement of language skills and the European dimension, experiences in inclusion and intercultural skills in dealing with refugees and migrants. In all courses, we paid attention to the pedagogical use of ICT and internationalization in order to make our lessons more attractive and motivating for our students and teachers in the future.

Background

We wanted to promote quality, innovation and excellence at our school through our project. We identified the individualization of learning and the differentiation of teaching as a central area in which our school must continue to develop. Inherent in all activities was the major goal of increasing the development of intercultural competence among our staff. Especially in the capital city of Berlin and at Berlin schools, we must and want to face up to the challenge and responsibility of caring for the refugees and migrants from Europe and all over the world who come to us. The training courses focused on individualized work and differentiation in lessons, the organization of teaching and learning, the use of new teaching methods and teaching materials, improving language skills and the European dimension, especially of eTwinning, OER, experiences in inclusion and intercultural skills in dealing with refugees and migrants. We also took advantage of further training courses that either focused on improving foreign language skills or helped us to make progress in our work with new media.
