Objectives

We want to develop ourselves in as many fields as possible and incorporate newly acquired knowledge, ideas and their practical implementation possibilities into our daily teaching work. In doing so, we have set the following priorities: - We want to support children in their personality development, help them to strengthen their self-confidence, to develop their sensitivity for their fellow human beings and to encounter and act towards each other with respect, tolerance and responsibility. - We want to create a positive and more effective learning climate and encourage children to take more responsibility for their own learning. - We want to encourage children to move more, to show them ways to be mindful of themselves, to find peace in order to increase health, willingness to exert themselves, concentration and motivation. - We want to make versatile use of the digital media available in our school. - We want to give teachers the opportunity to train themselves in the area of resilience in order to be better at coping with challenges of everyday life. - We want to learn from European countries, get to know their schools, teaching methods and teachers and possibly initiate an exchange - teachers and/or students.

Background

Our school is characterised by heterogeneity: Almost 50% have a migration background, some women hardly speak German although they are already living here in the second or third generation of their family living here, the proportion of single mothers is very high, many families receive financial support, in some families youth welfare is active and four children from a residential group attend our school. In addition, there are the effects of the pandemic: Many children lack motivation, willingness to put effort into schoolwork, perseverance, attention, interest, ability to express themselves linguistically, physical fitness, some lack self-confidence, others lack respect and appreciative interaction with each other and with things. For teachers, this is a great challenge, exhausting and also emotionally stressful. By participating in thematically different courses, we wanted to find different ways of confronting this problem - individually and in the learning group - learning to act flexibly, this with a view to how we can also use our diversity for this and perhaps change our attitude. In addition, there were the valuable discussions with other European educators and the opportunity to visit local schools.
