Objectives

Due to both the substantial challenges which the BBZ Homburg has to solve and the regulation of the inclusion process within vocational schools in Saarland as well as social changes such as migration, teachers need to get along with higher amounts of students with special needs and with a bigger heterogeneity in classroom in general. Moreover, the corona pandemic increased those effects. Therefore, this project wants to extend the skills of the teachers of BBZ Homburg in terms of certain professional, methodical and didactical knowledge, which is applicable in the regular work. Thus, the project focuses on a sustainable transition of the school culture within the school staff concerning dealing with heterogeneity, intercultural learning and individual support for students. Hence, BBZ Homburg and its staff members benefit from the project regarding the mobility activities that were implemented, such as experiences in the field of inclusion on an European level as well as teachers trainings in the fields of dealing with diversity, inter-culturalism and individuel support of students. The main goals of the project focused on the following topics: - methods and didactics und Didaktik in the field of dealing with heterogeneity - key problems in the fields of pedagogics, psychology and sociology - Classroom-Management - Inter-culuralism in school

Background

One section of the German vocational school system focuses on the transition from secondary school to the labour market.Students which attend such courses, need to be prepared in order to integrate themselves to an apprentenceship and the vocational training successfully. In BBZ Homburg, students which are concerned to that department of vocational education, are taught in the "Ausbildungsvorbereitung" (preparation for vocational training) and the Berufsfachschule I and II ("business and administration", "technics" and "Health and social sciences"). Within the reforms of the past, the department of the school faces challenging major changes in terms of the heterogeinity in school. Our school is attended by a big amount of students with special needs, people that are new to Germany and with poor language skills as well as students from vulnerable backgrounds. Therefore, it was necessary that the employees of BBZ Homburg deal with the topic of inclusion systematically, gather information and make experiences on an European level. The impressions they take in job-shadowing and training mobilities can have impacts to their personal attitudes towards the topic of inclusion in our school, they extend their skills in terms of dealing with heterogeneity and this effects the school culture as well.
